Tennis Racquet Descriptions

When you initially pick up the Wilson nCode nPro Open 100 you might think this is a grinder’s racquet in the lineage of the Hammer family. It feels like there’s plenty of weight in the top of the frame, which would favor heavy baseline hitters with big swings. But don’t be fooled by first impressions. While you can do damage off the ground, this stick is actually rather head light, making it equally effective at net. Volleys had a soft feel with plenty of control and limited vibration, which can be attributed to its nanofoam and Double Hole technology. These features, along with a slight bump up in weight, are what separate the nPro Open 100 from the older nPro Surge. Throw that in with solid net play and glowing tester reviews in the serving department and you’ve got a great frame for doubles specialists.

Weight and balance seemed out of sync to me. Not enough mass and not head light enough to really appeal to my game.

The Micro-Dry Max Grip was really comfortable. I liked the tackiness of the grip and the fact that the cushioning didn’t keep me from feeling the handle.

I thought this was one solid racquet. Looking at the specs, I would dismiss this racquet as being too light. However, my second time out with the nPro I gave my opponent a double bagel, so I was off to a good start.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed hitting with the nPro.
